About Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)
On September 10, 2020, Narender Modi officially launched the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana through video conference in the presence of the Governor and Prime Minister of Bihar along with the Union and MoS Minister for Fisheries, Livestock and Dairy. During the period 2020-2021 to 2024-2025 estimated investment of Rs. 20,050 crores will be made by the government for this scheme. Of which Rs 12340 crores is proposed for beneficiary-oriented activities in marine, inland fishing and aquaculture, and about Rs. 7710 crores for fishing infrastructure. The main aim of the government behind the scheme is:
- Improving fish production by another 70 lakh tons until 2024-25,
- Increase in income from fisheries exports to Rs.1,00,000 crore,
- Doubling the incomes of fishermen and fishermen
- Reduce post-harvest losses from 20-25% to about 10%
- Generation of additional 55 lakhs direct and indirect paid jobs in the fishing industry and related activities farmers,

PM Matsya Sampada Yojana
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reported Rs 20,000 Crore Scheme, under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. It aims to address fundamental gaps in the fishing area. This uplifting news comes as part of the third installment of financial changes. Of this, Rs 11,000 crore will be spent on marine, inland fishing and aquaculture exercises. In any case, Rs 9000 crore will be used to assemble foundations such as fishing ports and cold chains.

A total investment of Rs.1390 crore with a central share of Rs. 535 crores to complete the additional fish production target, which is set at 3 lakh tons. The state government has sanctioned the current fiscal year project cost of Rs.107.00 crore for key components such as:

- Construction of Biofloc ponds for aquaculture,

Benefits Of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana
The aim of the plan is to strengthen or increase horticulture, to modernize the processing and reduction of agricultural waste and to exploit the potential in the fishing area.
