Odisha Khushi Sanitary Napkin Scheme 2022: Government of Odisha has launched Khushi Sanitary Napkin Scheme 2022 to provide free and subsidized sanitary pads to girls. Subsequently, the state government. will provide sanitary napkins to all female students studying in the government. / govt. schools helped between the 6th class and the 12th class. As a result, this women’s initiative will benefit about 17 lakh girls across the state. Odisha Khushi Scheme is implemented by the state Department of Health and Family Welfare at a cost of Rs 70 crore per year.

Khushi Scheme had already been launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on February 26, 2018. The state government. will also expand social marketing of sanitary napkins to female students in the community at subsidized rates. As a result, this program will promote menstrual health and hygiene and also reduce the school dropout rate of girls. Khushi’s sanitary napkin program is a major step towards female empowerment as this program will lead to better retention of adolescent girls in schools.
Why Odisha Khushi Scheme was launched
According to data from the National Family Health Survey, in Odisha, 53% of women use unhygienic methods and about 69% of women use clothes during their period. To deal with this dire scenario, the government of Odisha has launched the Khushi scheme. The Odisha government also provides sanitary pads to rural women at subsidized rates of Rs. 6 for six pads by ASHA workers.
Key Features of Odisha Khushi Sanitary Napkin Scheme 2022
Khushi (meaning ‘happiness’ in Odia) is a women’s health and hygiene program run by the government of Odisha to provide free sanitary napkins to female students in Odisha. Important features and highlights of this sanitary napkin distribution program are as follows:-
- This is a major step in state government. to help girls maintain menstrual hygiene and health.
- As a result, all teenage girls studying grades 6-12 in multiple governments. / govt. the supported schools will receive these sanitary napkins absolutely free of charge.
- Now, this program will benefit about 17 lakh girls in Odisha State.
- Subsequently, the government. expand this program and distribute sanitary pads at subsidized rates to all girls and women in the community.

Government of Odisha on January 5, 2021 launched the Khushi Scheme mobile application. This Khusi Scheme app is available for download from Google Play Store. This web-based application would ensure that supply chain management for the Khusi program remains hassle-free. With this Khushi Yojana web application, sanitary napkins can be stored adequately in block level warehouses. Who are eligible for the Odisha Khushi Sanitary Napkin Scheme 2022
Under the government’s flagship project, Khusi Scheme, adolescent girls in grades 6 to 12 in all government and government-subsidized schools in all 314 blocks and five municipal corporations are provided with free sanitary napkins. In the 2021-22 budget, Rs. 30 crores is being provided to expand the coverage of beneficiaries under the KHUSHI Menstrual Hygiene Scheme-Distribution of Sanitary Napkins.
Govt. will provide 18 free sanitary napkins to school girls. Additionally, women in rural areas can obtain these pads at subsidized prices through Asha Workers. Also, the government of Odisha. has also successfully implemented various other programs exclusively for women like Mission Shakti, Mission Mamata, etc.
