It is a lightweight, user-friendly program that provides detailed information such as passport fees, passport location center, contact information, general passport details, application status, and more. To provide all passport-related services in a transparent, practical, and timely manner, the Government of India and the CPV (Consular, Passport, and Visa) Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA) are collaborating on the Passport Seva program. One of the largest projects under NeGP (National e-Government Programme) is being developed in a public-private partnership with TCS (Tata Consultancy Services). The project serves its residents through more than 77 passport offices spread across India.

Steps to Apply for a New Passport through the mPassport Seva

To apply for a new passport through mPassport Seva, users need to follow the steps below:

• First, download the mPassport Seva app for Android or iOS
• After the application is installed successfully, open the application
• The app’s dashboard will open on the screen
• Now, click the New User Registration button
• After that, select the Passport Office option
• A new page will open on the screen
• Now, enter all the required details like name, email id, date of birth, etc.
• After that, enter a unique login ID and a strong password
• To recover your password if you forget it, select a security question and reply
• Enter the verification code and click the submit button
• The Passport Office will then send an email to the specified email address with a verification link to activate the account.
• After clicking the verification link, they will take applicants to a new page that will prompt them to provide their login ID as confirmation.
• Applicants must stop using the app and restart it after verifying the account.
