Benefits of ceir.gov.in Portal to Track Lost Mobile Devices

The main benefit of the government’s implementation of the CEIR initiative is the blocking of the lost or stolen mobile phone. The traces of the mobile phone are kept by the IMEI number assigned to the unique mobile handset in India and if you block your mobile number through the central equipment investigation registry, your stolen mobile handset will not be able to get network coverage with any network company for the foreseeable future.

About KYM Portal ( Know Your Mobile )

The Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) provides a Know Your Mobile service (KYM). Through this service, mobile devices can be checked even before they are purchased. You just need to use the IMEI that is on the packaging/mobile invoice/invoice. You can even check your mobile’s IMEI number by dialing *#06#. If the status of the mobile is blacklisted, duplicated or already in use, don’t buy it. KYM can be used in the following three ways:

Via Text Message

  • You need to type KYM <15 digit IMEI number> from your mobile and send it to 14422. The status of the phone will appear on your screen.

Via the KYM app

  • You can check the status of your mobile by entering the IMEI number in the KYM app.

  • Go to the official website.
  • Scroll down and click on the ‘here’ option below the web portal.
  • You will be redirected to the new page.
  • Now you need to enter your mobile number.
  • You will receive an OTP
  • Enter that OTP.
  • Then enter the 15 digit IMEI number.
  • The status of the phone is on your screen

  • There are two ways to download CEIR know your customer mobile app which are:-

Via Google Play Store or Apple App Store

  • Open Google Play Store or Apple App Store on your mobile
  • Go to the search option and search for KYM- Know Your Mobile App
  • Now click the install button, the app will be downloaded in the background
  • Open the download application and enter the IMEI number of your mobile.
  • The status of the phone is on your screen

Via official website

  • Go to the official website.
  • Scroll down and click the ‘download the KYM app’ link under KYM app
  • You will be redirected to a new page with a QR code
  • Scan that QR code on your mobile phone
  • The app will be downloaded and installed on your phone
  • Open the application and enter your mobile IMEI number.
  • The status of the phone is on your screen

Procedures to trace lost phones (CEIR Portal to Search Lost Mobile)

In order to track the lost phones of the citizens of India, the following procedure is carried out by the concerned authorities through CEIR:-

  • First, the person must fill out an FIR with the name of his or her cell phone.
  • Upon successful police verification, the FIR copy will be awarded to the individual.
  • Then the person must inform DoT via a helpline number 14422
  • The DoT will then blacklist the IMEI number.

Ways to block the mobile set

There are three ways you can block your cell phone through the Central Equipment Investigation Registry such as:-

Via online registration form:

  • First, the person must file an FIR against the stolen cell phone.
  • After successful FIR, the person must assume a duplicate SIM card from his or her previous number as stolen.
  • You must then complete the application form stated here.

  • A request ID is generated when you successfully submit the form.
  • Save the application ID for future reference.
